Not pure white, but slightly off white. I bought this one and the smaller version (6 cup Aroma which is perfect size for two people); the colors are definitely different, the smaller one is pure white… if that matters. But because of it’s performance, I couldn’t care less. I bought these two so I could make sushi rice for a dinner party I was having. Both performed perfectly. I just decided to try something in this one…Rice-a-Roni. Used the Saute/Simmer function to brown it per the package instructions – takes longer than skillet but no burned rice because I walked away. Then put the seasoning and water in, set it to white rice function, put the top on and walked away. Took a nice, hot, leisurely shower and came back to perfect rice and no mess.Like most of you who are looking at this rice cooker, I got rid of my old aluminum pan one for health reasons. Then i bought a $200 one from the Asian market, only to find it impossible to clean. Ater that I had been making my rice in my instant pot, which has a steel inner pot. But that was such a hassle – it took too long to make and clean up after – that I just didn’t make rice that often. Now, with these two, I can see I’ll be making it quite often due to ease of use and cleanup. Growing up in a house where there was only minute rice, I did not know until recently that you need to rinse rice…I know – ewwwww! After reading reviews on rice washing bowls, I saw several that said just wash the rice right in the cooker’s bowl. Surprisingly, the rice stays together and doesn’t drip out with the water. The washing helps keep the foam down, and thus minimize the spewing out the steam hole. Next, stainless steel is like cast iron, as you cook with it the metal molecules expand and absorb cooking oil, then become slicker as you use it. I use coconut oil to coat my stainless pots before cooking and yes, it does cloud the rice rinse water. But no sticking, no discoloration! And one more thing: do not use your standard 1 cup measure from your drawer to measure the rice. The ‘rice cup’ that comes with all rice cookers is actually 3/4ths US cup. This could account for reviewers having issues with burning and sticking. Lastly, both the cookers have beautiful encapsulated bottomed pans like really good cookware. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go have some awesome Rice-a-Roni!

Another review sold me on this rice cooker but hereβs my review as well.Ok- we eat a lot of rice here (Asian household)I had another Aroma model that has the coated basket and an attached lid which I didnβt like because it would get water in the rim inside around the edge and over time itβs hard to clean it out. I have been wanting to get away from coated cooking products and came across this. I was concerned it would stick to the stainless steel basket but surprisingly it cooks really nice and cleans up easily. I love the fact I can remove the entire basket with the lid and stick in the fridge if by chance have leftovers. Also like the fact the steam insert is also stainless steel. Love the size and I think the price point is good. Only thing I didnβt care for was that itβs white but for being white it does look nice just clashed with my other cookware but at the end of the day thatβs being picky. Hopefully in the future a stainless steel and black color are available. Would definitely buy again!

The cooker does what it should, it cooks rice. The stainless insert is what sold me to it. I love my instant pot, but I prefer to cook rice in this because it’s easier to use and clean. I can now make rice in this pot while making stews in my IP. I love just being able to set and forget and cleanup is a snap. My elderly mother was getting forgetful about turning off the stove. She likes this because it allows her to continue to cook without burning down the house. Steaming is easy too. I often reheat food by steaming and the insert holds my standard corelle bowl perfectly. Lost one star for one reason: sometimes the rice water bubbles out of the spout and makes a mess. Just sometimes.

I like it but you should wash by hand. I put it in the dishwasher after the first use but the steamer basket was left with marks (where vegetables had touched the surface)

In about 45 minutes — following directions explicitly, and half the water was still in there. Had to change dinner plans drastically — steamed vegetables and chicken and…MUSH? I don’t think so. Had to change dinner plans drastically when I had been so patient waiting for the rice to cook. I’ve had much better luck with whole grain farro (emmer wheat), which seems impossible to overcook, with steamed veggies and fish or chicken. I’ll have to try again with brown rice — cut way back on the water and the time, which means setting a timer because this thing doesn’t allow you to time. Not happy, undecided on whether to send it back. Probably won’t because it does well with farro (a better food than brown rice anyway IMO).

Can’t go wrong with this….I cook all types of rice in this cooker. Set it and walk away; come back to the best rice I can possibly make, add the other ingredients you choose. Love this cooker and company.
