   EDIT: The problem with this microwave turned out to be the instructions, and not the microwave itself. Amazon didn’t want it back, so I gave it away to someone who thought they didn’t need a microwave on which the power could be moderated. They started playing with it, and, apparently, you have to turn press the POWER button after you’ve already started cooking. That’s fine, but the instruction manual doesn’t tell you that. Also, I called Black and Decker to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and even they had the wrong information.I’d give the microwave five stars, except that people are inevitably going to be confused by the instruction book’s incorrect directions and want a refund. If the company produces a new manual, or if you’ve read this review and know what to do, it’s a great microwave for a great price.This would be a nice enough microwave, except that it seems to frequently arrive not in fully working order. I used it a couple of times, and was happy with it, but then I bought a frozen meal from Trader Joe’s that required me to set the microwave to half power for a few minutes. When I tried to do that, I realized that the “power” button did not work. I called Amazon for a replacement, and they sent one – and THAT one had the same issue. I even called Black and Decker to determine if I was somehow not pressing the button properly or if I was doing something wrong (the direction manual is sparse), but, no, I was doing everything right.If you order this item, which you shouldn’t, I strongly advice you to check each button before throwing away your packaging that you might need to return it.

   I got this microwave because I wanted something small to fit on my counter. Very hard to find anything smaller than this and still maintain 900+ watt of power. This would have worked great except for 2 reasons I didn’t like it:1) the display was too dark to see the buttons and read the labels. Would’ve have been nice if the print were white or perhaps black print on a white background. This oven needs to be in a well-lite area to work the buttons.2) The button to open the microwave door is the type you have to push to open. Every time I push the button the microwave moves back. My previous oven had a handle that I simply grab and pull open, which doesn’t cause my oven to move away from me.Otherwise, it was a nice oven but didn’t work for me.

   When my old (7 years old) microwave had a stubborn fit, I could have had a panic attack. But instead I logged onto Amazon and began shopping for a new one and reading the reviews. I received this one the next day and was able to get it into service right away. It is a heavy creature, though. I read the entire manual (well, the English part, that is) and was disappointed not to see any instructions on keeping the interior clean, but a splatter cover has taken care of that problem. Also, the microwave did have a chemical smell for several days. The wattage is a bit smaller than my previous microwave, but I just add 11 seconds each time. Overall, I am pleased with my new microwave so far.

   We purchased this relatively inexpensive, and very compact unit to use until our kitchen remodel was completed and we could replace it with a more expensive and “Better” unit. However, it proved to be so useful, and so efficient, that we simply kept it as our full time microwave. We have found that for our uses, we have no need for a larger or more expensive unit. the interior size of this machine is almost a large as our previous unit, but it is fully 20% smaller in the space it takes up on the counter, while having all the feature we have ever needed and used. It is also very good looking and its black and stainless exterior complements our new kitchen decor. Frankly I am amazed. In fact it is quieter and easier to clean than the larger and much more expensive machine it replaces. I certainly recommend this machine.

   Received this small counter top microwaveJuly 2, 2022. On Nov 1 it caught on fire. Burned microwave plate and area underneath. Lots of flames. Oven clean. Heard noise, looked and there it was blazing. Pd $111.89 +tax. Perfect size. Black-Decker very accommodating once I send Amazon receipt. Haven’t figured out how to do that and can’t reach Amazon for help. Seriously considering going to Walmart and getting a microwave. Looking now for Panasonic. Had 2 in 21 yrs.

   I read the reviews before purchasing this microwave. Several said it was very loud. I agree with them but for the price and considering it only runs for a very short time when I use it, I’d buy it again. Size is nice for a small area

   I liked the smaller size. It is attractive. It has a 30 second function. But boy is it noisy. Fan is loud. Also it does not stop beeping when you open the door at the end of cooking/heating time. When using late at night that is inconvenient.
