The media could not be loaded. We’ve been using the Buydeem steamer along with the extra double stack (sold and reviewed separately) for about a month without any problem. We really love everything about it; it really makes our lives much better by giving us so many more choices for daily meals.The quality is good from how everything is packaged to how the steamer is built and operated. It is designed like the Apple products in the electronics world; the appearance looks premium from top to bottom. It’s very easy to set up, and you can always fill in the water after you prepare all the food plates in the stack. You can tell how much water is needed from the sideview window with min and max water line. Unlike some other electrical pots with endless and confusing options and combinations, this steamer is very intuitive and simple to operate. The timer starts after the water is brought to boil, which is great. Take a look at the video posted along this review for a quick walkthrough. Overall it saves us so much time and opens up a whole new world for our every-day meals! Our favorite is steaming live fish with seasoned soy sauce- this steamer brings out the same dish that can easily costs $50 at a restaurant!The steamer also comes with two glass stew pots that are perfect for congees, swallow nest soups, or any other type of soup or stew.A couple of tips from using this steamer for a month; we use it almost every other day: 1. As cautioned by the instruction manual, do not try to lift the bottom water reservoir by holding the water inlets! 2. If you are used to the traditional steamer on stove (especially gas stove), do expect a few more minutes than you would have set with the traditional steamer. First of all, the description says it is 21.7 long, but it is actually only 12 long and the steamer part is only 9.5 x 5.5.Peas fall thru the holes in the steamer plate, as well as black soybeans so I had to buy silicone steamer liners ($16)I can only put a couple of small hands full of spinach on the plate, which only has about a 1/4” lip so you can’t pile anything high on it.So then I had to buy the additional insert ($55) to get any reasonable amount of food in there. And I am talking about for one person steaming a couple of days worth of spinachSo you have to ask yourself if a steamer that uses 1500w to steam, etc, small amounts is a good buy. ?And on that note…who is going to make yogurt using 1500w for 12 or more hours when you can get a good yogurt maker than uses 100w or less.All in all I’ve spend $268 for it, another $16 for liners, $55 for the additional insert, and I either have to buy another plate for $50 or something that can hold loose veggies like kale. Why they don’t offer a high side bamboo basket leaves me scratching my head.It has not been a wise buy for me. Unfortunately I have been going through a love hate relationship with it. I do like that it is well made with quality parts and the steam water doesn’t fall into the water reservoir.And its cute. So my heart is over-ruling my common sense. I should return it, but I won’t. I am sure a lot of you out there go through these conundrums also. Will I resent my heart over-ruling my common sense….at some point? Only time will tell.
