I previously had an instant pot, but absolutely hated it’s lame interface. Neither my wife, nor my best friend could make sense of it’s stupid controls. Then, one day, after plugging it in, it just went “Pop!” and smoke started coming out from the vents. Into the trash it went. I decided to give the Chef iQ a try, and bought it this past January. It’s worked wonderfully, those gh the app has crashed in the middle of a recipe once (out of maybe 30-40 recipes cooked), and though after restarting the app, and it seeing the cooker was running that recipe, I was unable to resume it, without starting over from scratch, which was a nuisance, but I just stepped through it to catch up with the step it crashed at, and continued with no further issues. Aside from that one issue, this cooker has worked flawlessly. I’ll come back to the app, and some of it’s weaknesses/shortcomings , but first I want to address what a couple reviews mustated.First, to the user, Jude, who assumed the company is in china, and the device is full of spychips. The company, called RJ Brands, LLC, is located in Mahwah, New Jersey. Last time I checked, New Jersey isn’t in China. Correct me I’m wrong (eye roll). The Chef iQ is designed in the US, and merely outsourced to China for manufacturing, as are the vast majority of products made the past couple decades. It’s simply impractical to manufacture in the US these days due to the extremely high cost of US labor. Then there is the sheer absurdity of spying on your cooking habits. Some people drink way too much of the idiotic conspiracy cool-aid. They also have a VERY concise and clear privacy policy, so before jumping to absurd conclusions, do some research.Next, in regards to the overheat message. I have seen this a couple times, but I never had to add any extra liquid. I merely stirred well, and resumed. The error did not reappear. Simple. However, if the error were to reappear multiple times after STIRRING well AND adding liquid, the unit may simply be malfunctioning. Call their customer service. I have called a couple times with questions, and to find out about purchasing an extra inner pot and inquire about lids. They were super helpful, and pointed me to their website, which does offer these items for sale, but the “accessories” link is not in the nav menu, rather on the bottle m of each page in small print, where I just missed it. Oops. Not the best website design, but hardly the worst either. Now, back to the app. It’s not perfect and lacks what I personally consider a key function: ability to create and save your own custom recipes. It also doesn’t let you easily modify recipes. As an example, I love baked beans, and there is a good recipe for them, bit it is designed around canned, not dried beans. I prefer to use dried beans, which take a total of about 40 minutes at pressure to cook, with 20 minutes to parboil the beans, then saute the bacon, maple syrup, brown sugar, etc., then re-add the beans and continue pressure cooking another 20 minutes. Its just a minor nuisance to have to parboil the beans, then run the recipe, changing the cooking time from 3 to 20 minutes, but doing so made some of the best baked beans I’ve ever had, and didn’t take 12 hours like it would if I cooked them the old fashioned way. Another quibble of mine is that you can’t modify the number of servings in a recipe. I’d also love a more intelligent shopping list feature, but as it is, it’s sufficient. If they address these minor quibbles, I’d give the Chef iQ 5 stars. I will say this though. I intend to buy another one this Christmas to cook more complex recipes side by side, instead of in stages, swapping out the inner pots as I do currently.

The recipes are great and the set up was easy. You can tell a lot of quality assurance and thought went into this product. The clean UI of the app and numerous recipes makes it so easy to use and make food. I got it being a single guy living in the barracks. I get my BAS and I got tired of frying stuff so I needed a way to make good healthy meals while also not taking up a part time job as a cook. I’m not the best at cooking and accident prone at that. This cooker makes things so simple and has step by step guides on the app that make it impossible to mess up. This is 100% worth the money for me being a techy myself. I can monitor it from my phone and walk away not having to worry about my food. I can also manually cook which is amazing because there’s some dishes I make homemade that I can actually cook but takes more time that I’m able to accomplish with this cooker. As long as the devs keep updating the app with recipes, patches for the cooker, and the quality holds up… 10/10. The main seller of this cooker is the recipes in the app for me. ? I really hope they continue to expand and add more functionality via the app

The app makes following the recipe extremely simple and user friendly. Its full of recipes to search and spark new ideas for meals. Very versatile and easy to clean. Only issue I had was connecting the phone to the pot to control cooking. Neither wifi or bluetooth would stay connected, which resulted in chicken and other things being halfway cooked, then shut off, then restarted a full cook, messing up the dish in the process. I gave this pot to my girlfriend and she had better luck with connection.

I bought this to replace my Instant Pot, and am so I glad I did! It’s easier to use, has the same cleanup, better features, easy step by step recipes and just an all-around easier to use pressure cooker. My girlfriend and two other family members who have ditched there Instant Pots and switched to Chef QI after using mine. And the scale feature is awesome, it’s a well thought out product and worth every penny.

I love my chefIQ! This is more than an instant pot/pressure cooker. All the recipes available on the app make cooking a breeze and I am testing a new recipe at least twice a week! I love the scale function since it seems that I always have either too much or too little rice/past left in an open bag from the last time we cooked something. Now, I just set it to weigh whatever I throw in the cooker, and it tells me exactly how much water I need to add and calculate how much time it will need to cook without having to do math (which I love to do, just not for cooking diner).
