This burner definitely works for making beer. I typically boil 7 gallons of wort reducing it to 5.5 gallons. This burner handles that easily, raising the temperature by nearly 4F per minute (3.8F/minute). This with the supplied 20 PSI regulator and my (typically) half full 20lbs propane tanks (high pressure propane, not low pressure propane, not natural gas).* Adjusting the air mix was simple; once set, it’s good for low or high flame output* Sturdy, easy to assemble frame; no qualms putting a 15 gallon boil kettle atop it.NOTE: with the supplied 0 – 20 PSI regulator and a standard 20 lbs propane tank (which is only filled to 80% and hence about 16 to 17 lbs), you will NOT achieve 200,000 BTUs with this burner. The burner itself is only rated for 200,000 BTUs but not supplied with a regulator, hose, and orifice which can achieve that. And that’s okay for brewing beer! If you really need the full 200,000 BTUs then do your research regarding the regulator, orifice, line size, and tank size that you will need: these ALL come into play. Is my tank capable of producing the necessary volume of propane vapor from liquid per minute? Can my regulator handle it? Can my line carry that throughput? Can the orifice at the end of the line present it? These all need to be considered and can readily be researched. Or better yet, a specialist consulted to give advice. (There’s reasons why road side cook chefs use much larger propane tanks: it’s not just to have more propane because they use more, but to also be able to vaporize it faster — to present larger volumes of it per second so as to drive higher BTUs for their combined gear.)

This is a great burner. I originally bought it for brewing beer since the traditional style Turkey fryer with the little torch thing in the middle would take forever to boil 12 gallons of wort and probably end up scorching it in the process. This is a different story. Boils in no time and since the heat is spread out it is difficult, if not impossible, to scorch your wort. Since Iโve gotten it Iโve also used it to fry a few turkeys and a lot of fish, steam oysters, and for canning pickles and it excels at all. Itโs saved me hours for the pickles alone since I make ALOT of pickles, usually start about two 30 gallon batches per week during the cucumber growing season and the type of pickles I make are 14 day icicle pickles which require you to drain the syrup into a pot, boil it, then pour it back over the pickles once per day for a whole week. Needless to say when you are boiling two or three pots containing 15-20 gallons of liquid each per day for a couple months, the difference between bringing it to a boil in 15 minutes vs 1+ hours ends up saving you a whole mess of time. And this cooker is rock solid even when youโve got a pot with of 20 gallons of sugar/vinegar syrup (around 180lbs) in it since the legs and grate are made out of 5/32โ thick steel bar thatโs 1-3/8โ wide. Best part of all is this cooker was 1/2 to 1/3rd the price of the name brand banjo style burners when I bought it. Itโs still pricy, but itโs worth every single penny if you use it regularly and itโs so, so much better in every way than the traditional turkey fryer burners they sell at the Loweโs and Home Depots. I am really glad I decided to pull the trigger on this purchase.

Very well built. If this isn’t big enough, well, maybe you’re expecting too much. ?

This is a great burner, really throws the heat, less time getting oil to temp. I wished it had a foot longer on the height.

This burner is a great value. It is heavy duty and the heat output is intense. Bought it primarily for turkey frying and I love that there is no heat safety shutoff which plagued me on a poorer quality fryer I was using for years; just monitor your oil and you donโt need a heat shutoff. The heat output is really great and gets to temperature really quickly, easily was able to maintain 350 degrees using the regulator to adjust the propane flow.

The product is good for the amount of money except that it came short with one screw and nut bolt. Also broken screw. Other than itโs ok.
