I’ve had a bad flu, haven’t been able to cook much and was looking for a cooking helper. Found this crock pot and the price was good. There are only 2 of us so we only needed 4-quarts. I have chicken soup cooking in it now.1. No indicator lights to show it is on. There is only a knob to turn – left is low – up is high – right is warm.2. There are no problems with the lid fitting and the crock isn’t too shallow for the lid as some stated.3. The color is deep and lovely … not really that much difference in color on the parts – sure, plastic and metal color differently.4. If I had designed a feature, I would have used 6 feet to steady it instead of 4. It can be a little wobbly if you move it.5. I filled the water to 3/4 way up the crock and there isn’t any bubble-over of liquid from the chicken soup – it’s been cooking 3 hours on high with hot water to start it.6. The ceramic pot comes out of the cooker so you can wash or store in the fridge easily.ETA: After reading about food spilling over the edge or liquid sputtering out from some reviewers-my advice would be to Not Over-fill your crock! It is 4-quarts but you will only be using about 3-quarts of it. The picture that is shown here is NOT how to fill it, leave cooking space! So far, so good. I will report back after using it for awhile. In store for this week will be: pot roast with carrots, onions, potatoes – chili with beans – pasta sauce.2 days later: Last night I put large chunks of 3 potatoes in the bottom of the crock. In a cast-iron pan I browned 1-1/2 pounds of ground beef with a large diced onion. Put the cooked meat and onions over the potatoes. Added 1 can of Manwich Sloppy Joe sauce over it and a splash of water in the can to get all the sauce out and poured it on top of the meat, I didn’t stir it in. Set on High for about 4 hours (I had fallen asleep) and when I looked the potatoes were soft and it was ready. No burning at all.Tonight I made Chicken and Dumplings. Browned 4 skinless chicken thighs in a pan, added them to the crock. Browned a large diced onion in the pan and sliced carrot and added that to the crock. Added a bit of water to the pan to get the drippings up and poured that into the crock. Added a sliced celery rib and water to just cover and cooked on high about 3 hours. Took out the chicken and put in dumplings made from Bisquick (cheddar and garlic flavor) and cooked on high about 40 minutes (I had forgotten it). The dumplings made a thick gravy so it was like a chicken stew…added the chicken off the bone back in and served. No burning or sticking.I am using this as I would a pot on the stove. I haven’t used low to cook so can’t tell you if it’s something you can set and come home 12 hours later and have a good meal. I will try it one day and report back on it.**** My one tip would be: Always Brown Your Meat in a pan on the stove BEFORE adding it to the crock pot, it will make a world of difference on the flavor – it won’t have that boiled, dull taste that we remembered from our past. I also like to brown the onion and carrot if I’m using it, as well.8/14/2015 … back for another one. The crock broke. I picked up the black since it was cheaper than the other colors. I have pinto beans cooking in it now. Added cleaned beans and water, turned to warm a couple hours, turned off to cool down so I can dump that water and put fresh water in. Will cook on low over night. In the morning I’ll add some browned chorizo, crisp bacon, diced and a can of tomatoes, jalapenos and season, cook a few more hours. A nice pot of cowboy beans for dinner, awaits.

Initial impression without using it to cook;-Very cheap feeling. I suppose the price represents the product so I can’t very well be upset too much. The only part that feels good is the ceramic (I think) inside.-The tri-peg footing makes the crock pot very unstable.-The cord is much too short but I have a nearby outlet so it’s not currently a problem but I can see it being a deal breaker for some.I’ll update after I cook with it a couple times to give my cooking impression, but so far it doesn’t seem ideal.Update:All my previous points still stand about the product, but so far I’ve cooked 5+ meals in it and they have all turned out edible, so I can conclude that it works for now!I’ve cooked on both high and low, and most guidelines on time line up with when my meals are ready for both low and high. I even used the warm feature to warm up food for dinner and it didn’t really take that long. I’ll raise it 2 stars since it satisfies most things I want.Overall: Looks good, feels a bit cheap, works really well, and is slightly unstable and easily tipped over if you aren’t careful.

Well, I didn’t think a lite was important, until my meal wasn’t ready due to a faulty wall socket. Almost returned the unit as defective. I finally tested the wall socket, it was worn out. Notaling connection. Replaced socket. Plugged unit in and put on high. Within a few minutes it was hot and simmering. So yet it really needs a lite. That’s why 4 stars. The detents on the temperature selector are not as crisp, make sure you feel the click.

Perfect size for “in between”. Have the largest Crock Pot and a full size Nesco. Need something just a little smaller and this fits the bill. Like the removable pot for cleaning.

I had a large slow cooker but needed to down size. I love it so far. Iβve only used it once so far, but will be using it a lot more, as I did the larger one.

I bought this in June but hadnβt used it until this month. Pasta sauce burned in 95 minutes when set on low; should have cooked for six hours. Today, made beef stew using the directions/recipe that came with the crock pot. It was to cook on high for four hours. Two hours and 15 minutes later the potatoes are mushy, beef falling apart-good news, the carrots are cooked. If I had not been home to turn it off I would have inedible food and another big mess to clean up. Disappointed and unhappy to have wasted money and food on this.

I wish it had a light to let you know it’s on but not a big deal. I felt the side of the cooker and it was getting hot right away. The other thing is also not a big deal but the color is not really red. It’s more like Kitchen Aide Cinnamon color. I would have preferred a real red

I really wanted this pot for the beautiful red color, however it was not the red as in the picture for me but a beautiful brick color. I also found it for a better price point at Macy’s.I did not use it so I can speak on the temp controls, ease of use and all that. I am sure it would have worked fine. How hard can a crock pot be with low, high and warm.
