I have the mini Dash squares and rounds. I use to make keto/gf waffles that sandwich monster hubby uses for everything – breakfast sammies, lunch, as a hotdog/hamburger bun. I love this! Booklet says not to use more than 1.5 cups of waffle mix. Mine was 2 jumbo eggs, 1/2 cup almond flour, 2 heaping tbs sour cream, 1tsp baking powder, few dashes of salt, a little water to thin slightly. Pour over iron and photo shows my results at 5 mins?? can add everything bagel seasoning or any other flavors you want.

My original purpose for getting a waffle maker was to make cheese + egg waffles (chaffles), compatible with a ketogenic diet (high fat, moderate protein, low carb). However, the DASH is far more versatile. To my surprise, I use it for a range of recipes, from okonomiyaki (Japanese fritters), to exotic omelet waffles. The ridges make the waffle stiff enough to act as a bread substitute, substrate for Keto pizza, open face sandwiches, and so on. And the DASH, with its overflow gutters, is a very user friendly appliance. If a bit too much mix is used, the spillage doesn’t make a mess of the countertop… nor wastes it. (Just scoop it up and eat it)I have mostly used the waffle maker to make ‘savory’ (unsweet) waffles. But one can use sugar substitutes, and make all manner of dessert waffles.NOTE: The SQUARE 4x waffles are deep “Belgian” style (roughly 1/3 cup each). The DASH MINI (round) 4x Waffle maker produces shallow (1/4 cup each). Each has its own advantages. The thinner minis are great for making “sandwiches” – the four inch diameter matches most cold cuts. The square “Belgians” are a bit too thick to eat 2 at a time, with sandwich filling. However, since all four square waffles cook connected, one can make 8 inch “submarine” sandwiches, splitting the 4x waffle in half. Or make one big 8×8 square pizza. Being a network of squares, they’re easy to cut up into little squares and add to gravies, soups, and salads. Also, the thicker square waffles work well in a standard pop up toaster, and don’t get stuck. In short, DASH is highly recommended. And if one is considering a “KETO” way of eating, the wide range of waffles can resolve yearnings for “forbidden” foods.

I like the runoff wells and this waffle iron cleans up very nicely

The warning all over the place regarding heat is understated. This thing gets hotter than a furnace and the piece meant to be cool to the touch absolutely is not. Between that and the steam this thing emits when you open it requires you to be in a heat resistant suit. I made the exact batch quantity the manual says and it did not spill at all but my batter did get very fat and did not want to be squashed. Overall I love how easy it was to clean, once completely cool. I like that it didnβt smoke up from the butter or batter. Took roughly 3min per side to cook the big boy in my photos. (Made a banana/oatmeal waffle so the thickness came from that but normally in pancake form I can flatten it out).

When this waffle maker arrived I opened it right away. And immediately you could smell mold and mildew. I took it outside and let it air out then. Cleaned it really good. It works fine I just don’t like the fact that it’s smelled really bad.
