I have had this toaster a little over a month. So far, so good. It is a nice looking toaster and appears to be well built. I did not want to take a chance with a non-brand name. Not sure if it makes a difference these days but I felt more comfortable with a company with a known positive reputation. All the functions work as advertised. Bagel function works well. The function that allows you to push toasted items up above the normal set position is very helpful In the past, I would have to use a knife to wedge up items that sat low in the toaster. The opening width of the toaster is good. I have no problems getting a bagel in the slot without getting it to close to the heating elements.I think the criticisms in the other reviews have some merit but I have never had a toaster that doesn’t. It does take some time to complete the toast cycle but every toaster I have owned is similar. I have had a toaster that browns more quickly but on some items it would toast the outside but not warm up the center. I think the cycle time is fine. The other issue is that it does not brown evenly. No toaster I have had toasts perfectly. I have always set time to a shorter interval and then turned the toast to complete the cycle.Overall, this is a good basic toaster. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews and I am satisfied I picked the right toaster given the price range. The unknown at this point is the longevity. I will update accordingly.

It actually toasts pretty well. However, it always defaults fo setting ‘4’ and that’s a bit dark for us. So if you just pop in bread and lower the handle, you get level 4, which you can adjust IF YOU REMEMBER. I didn’t realize it didn’t save your last setting when I ordered this. Not sure if I will keep it, but if this isn’t an issue for you, it is a nice toaster.

Honestly, if my husband hadn’t already recycled the box, I probably would have sent this back. It seems to work OK, and it is very stylish. My annoyance is that because the lightness/darkness setting (like ALL settings on this particular toaster) are electronic, they reset to the default every time you use it. This toaster has 7 levels, and fortunately, they put the default brownness setting in the middle, at 4. So you never have to go TOO far in either direction. But I happen to like the “6” setting, so every time I put in a piece of toast, I have to adjust the setting up from 4 to 6. (Again, I’m really glad it doesn’t start at 1!)My point is, were this a regular old toaster with old-fashioned knobs, I could find my favorite setting, turn the knob there, and leave it there. The digital controls actually make this LESS convenient to use, and that’s a shame.

I regret this purchase. While it is easy to clean & the controls are great, it feels light & cheap. It performs well but it is not what I had in mind.

This toaster replaced a very expensive one which hasn’t worked correctly in 2 years. I needed one fast and this was available to ship quickly and was a name brand because I will NEVER trust anything electrical that is not sold by a name brand. It’s okay, does not do bagels or english muffins well on the one side. The toasting coils are few and far between, especially towards the middle. It can burn the edges before the middle is toasted but again, it was inexpensive and served my purpose for hosting guests. I wouldn’t buy it again because Hamilton Beach cut too many corners to save money on it so I would expect any other of their toasters would be the same. Honestly, do they think people won’t notice the shoddy workmanship?
