On the plus side, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do: it’ll bring a liter-plus of water to a boil super quickly, in a few minutes (and the blue lights look decently cool). There are a few down-sides, though. One is that the electric elements are integrated into the base of the carafe, so you can’t immerse it in water. Another is that the lid doesn’t come off, as far as I can tell, and it also doesn’t open more than about 75 degrees. Taken together, this makes it a pain to clean, because you can’t put it in the sink and it’s difficult to even reach your hands into it to clean it with a sponge. For the same reason, it’s also a bear to get loose-leaf tea out of it, if pouring it down the drain isn’t an option (and it isn’t for me because our plumbing is terrible).Another problem I had is that it boiled over — albeit only once. I filled it well below the maximum fill line, added some loose-leaf mint tea, and the unit boiled over pretty badly. That, taken together with how much of a bear to clean it is, means I don’t use it with loose-leaf tea anymore.

Update: After 15 months, ours broke. ?The plastic melted on the base where the metal probe on the bottom of the kettle itself goes. It stunk so bad of burnt plastic. The user of the kettle did nothing abnormally.Great kettle otherwise. It gets the job done. It’s clear to see water boiling. Easy to use.Unfortunately, we have to purchase another one. This will be our third one.

I had to return 2x other products for around the same price as this kettle, as both left a condensation layer after boiling. (Remaining after even 24 hours since the last boil). This condensation would add to the growth of mold. The Hamilton Beach kettle is of high quality and a make I previously used for years. I am happy that no condensation was noted and looks great.

Tested it upon arrival today. 3/4 full glass kettle (about 1-1/4 quarts) brought water to full boil in about 4-1/2 minutes. Turns off automatically. It has built in strainer for doing teas…next on my agenda. In terms of speed, compares well with models in other countries where 240V is prevailing powerTop is fairly small. Since it must be hand washed, I think this might be the only drawback

It’s an everyday use item (multiple times a day) we drink coffee and lots of tea. Almost a year later and it still works like new.

This is a great tea kettle. It heats up great. I like that my kids can use it without putting the stove on.

Our Cabo timeshare had this in our kitchen. I loved how easy it was to use. It boiled water quicker than my tea kettle. I bought one for our home and use it daily. It had a safety gesture that shuts it off once the water boiled.
