I have to say I am impressed. Ruptured single packs are usually the brand or if using your own grounds from over-filling or the fineness of grind. It doesnβt have the βinstantβ gratification as my Keurig (of which model is discontinued); however, if the needle gets clogged the thing can come out for an easy thorough clean following manufacture direction. I havenβt had to do this. But, I did check and it on my machine and will be no ordeal. The single serve. What I put in is what I got. I heard the lovely sound of percolation then coffee running in my cup. I used the enclosed brewing cup and my own ground brand. There was a fine misty steam which I think I saw a review of βsmokeβ either here or another site. Nope, normal steam escape. No grounds in my cup, just normal fine residue you sometimes see from fresh ground. The carafe!! I set auto brew for 9am. I used the recommended reusable copper basket. I prefer those to paper as you get better taste and better pick from environmental standpoint. I fixed a 10 cup pot. At 9pm, I did not have to reheat my coffee and the last cup was as good as the first. I drink a lot of coffee. Itβs my plasma. I hope this pot stands up to daily use better than the Keurigs that I have owned; however, with a better functionality and 1/3 the cost if I have to replace it 2 years down the road like my K, itβs worth it. My K model brewed a 3-4 cup carafe and the coffee never stayed hot. 12 hours in this pot spoke volumes. Cold coffee gags me. I didnβt have to nuke to heat, actually warmed up half a cup by topping it off from carafe. If any untoward problem crops up such as leaks develop (which I did find water on my counterβI dribbled some when filling single serve side) will update review. If manufacture instructions, tips, and trouble shooting guide is followed there should be no issues. I do have manufacture advice as to the guide. While I had no problems setting up the digital settings such as time and auto brew, you may want to include those directions for those who might. While electronics are as much a daily part of life now as oxygen, there are still things such as warnings for common sense things only an idiot would do!? UPDATE: I finally did it! I had coffee grind all over and down the side of my cup just like in the pictures. Quick investigation revealed an even quicker answer. I used the supplied one cup brew basket and had overfilled it. So of course it brewed over. I cleaned up my mess then ran 4 Oz water without the basket to flush the water needle of and grounds, which it did. I brewed a second cup watching that I didnβt overfill. Want a stronger cup of coffee there is a bold setting. It was perfect. My Keurig kept ruptured pods, clogged & near impossible to clear needles, a constant mess on the counter and used half the counter. So far Iβm not disillusioned with this machine. I slide it forward to put water in it. Slide it back and itβs out of the way. There is never coffee or water under it, the machine is easy to maintain. Brews a cleaner cup of coffee. Coffee in carafe stays hotter for a much longer period of time (a big plus for me) still very happy.

this brewer gets the job done, and i like that it allows for either a pot or a single serving. 2 things i don’t like. first is that you have to fill a certain amount of water and that’s how much water will be used in total in your cup or pot. yeah, i know it’s a feature, but it means that you have to fill the repository every time you brew a cup or pot and you have to fill it to EXACTLY the level you want to brew. would be a much better design if it just had a central large water repository so that if you chose to brew a single cup you could set a default of, say, 12 ounces of water and that’s how much water would be pulled. the second issue is related to the first in that the water fill levels are on the sides of the coffee maker and tremendously difficult to read without sufficient lighting (or my glasses!) if you’re like us, you have this on a counter under a cabinet tucked away in a corner. the water fill inlets are a little tricky to get to to begin with, but you also need to watch the water level while you’re pouring. OR premeasure out how much water you are going to add before you start adding. either way, it’s nowhere near my breville maker that had a 40 or whatever ounce basin that you would just add water to when it was empty, and when it brewed it knew how much water to pull. i’m sure that design would make it more costly, and i guess that’s why you get what you pay for. but since these makers invariably fail after just a couple of years of use, it’s tough to spend more money on something you know is going to fail relatively soon and need to be replaced.

The fact that I can make one cup with a po or freshly ground for the pod insert is wonderful. Then when I need a large volume, I can brew a pot full. And I really LOVE the stainless steel carafe. It looks better than the glass carafe, in my opinion.

Good options for carafe, pod, or grounds. Takes a bit long to warm and you have to fill each time. But, it’s so easy to use that it doesn’t matter. Nice looking set up and simple operation

Biggest complaint is it doesnβt keep the coffee hot.

We are not fans of the stainless carafe, which is the reason for the 4 stars on βeasy to useβItβs heavy and difficult to tell how much coffee is remaining inside, but eventually made peace with that. . The coffeemaker; however, simply quite making coffee a little over 4 months after purchase. I knew it was too late for action by Amazon and decided to contact Hamilton Beach directly, even though it was the weekend. I immediately received a response acknowledging my email and within a few days was told I would receive a new unit at no cost, including shipment. I was asked only to cut the cord from the old unit and dispose, which I did. I have always been a fan of Hamilton Beach products, but have never had a need to contact customer service which I found to be exceptional (reason for βOverall Ratingβ. Thank you Hamilton Beach! Huge fan!

I love and use the ” pod” side of this coffee maker daily but only used the pot side a couple times. The pot is thermal so meant to keep your coffee hot but I just didnt find that to be the case. Also the pad under the pot doesnt get hot and keep the coffee hot that way…so yeah, just meh with this coffee pot.

It looks good and makes nice coffee but coffee is not hot. I.e. when its done, pour it and without hesitation you can start drinking, not sipping because its not piping hot. Hope I am explaining it right.
