Works as expected but the low price point is reflected in a couple things. The slider on the lid is not airtight and a small amount of liquid easily gets through and depending on what you’re drinking it can get sticky. I can’t find a way to take the slider off either so I imagine that it will be a pain to clean. Also the photos made it appear like it was completely portable like the blender I was trying to replace. The base is actually wired and has to stay plugged into the wall, but you can take the rest of it with you on the go. It’s fine, I’ll live with it, but I miss having a fully portable blender. Overall it’s fine for saving a couple bucks right now but next time I won’t be ordering this one again.

I really enjoy this personal blender and being able to make smoothies for myself without needing to drag out a clunkier, larger blender. My only qualm is the lid. The lid and I… are enemies. Or maybe frenemies. Once you pop into place, it STAYS there. And that is great for when you’re blending, but very annoying when you want to take it off to clean or maybe adjust your ingredient ratio. I always struggle to get it off and it’s VERY frustrating. All in all, aside from the lid, this blender is great and does the job it’s supposed to.EDIT: For those struggling with this same issue, run hot water along the rim of the lid for a bit. Got mine off with far less of an issue using this method. Just be sure to pop off the lid over the sink, as it can be a little messy.

The Hamilton Beach Shakes and Smoothies works as advertised. It’s not a “powerhouse” but it’s fine for making my Atkins shakes with fruit and is a bit more convenient to use for this putpose than my Cuisineart immersion blender. But it isn’t pwerfull enough to deal effectively with crushed ice, so I can’t really make a “smoothie” worthy of the name. One great feature is that it saves counter space, typically at a premium in modern kitches. A bad feature is that the lid fits so tightly that it is almost imipossible to remove. This is a simple execution error that should have been corrected by the fabricator. So, 4 stars; such a simple little device should not have this kind of problem in 2022 if anyone at Hamilton Beach was paying attention!

I got mine in the Raspberry color. It’s pretty and little bit of a deeper color so it’s almost purple which is nice. Out of the box it was self explanatory. I washed it by hand and used it the day it arrived. The lid can be a bit finicky as it is a push on, pull off type. I would have preferred a screw on lid. But overall not a bad design. I made a smoothie using banana, milk, yogurt and frozen blueberries & whole strawberries. If you layer correctly it blends smoothly. I put my frozen fruit on top and pulsed until the fruit was mixed. Made a wonderful breakfast drink. I also like how the hole in the lid is a decent size, it fits several types of reusable straws we currently have. Overall pleased with the purchase and will buy another as a back up for when this one is no more.

Very efficient, blending power appears able to do the job. I don’t really feel like I’m asking it to do much “work ” so not sure how much to comment on blending power but certainly sounds strong enough. One criticism However it is not cordless as some others are. But very easy to use and have not found anything it can’t sufficiently blend together really fairly happy with product.

I came back here to check when I bought this, and it says October 21, 2015. Wow. I originally bought it to use as a travel blender, but I quickly realized how much easier it was to just use it on the daily instead of my big blender. I’ve taken it on many trips, just packed it in my checked luggage. I also use it every morning at home. I don’t know if this is something that happens overtime, but the base does seem to leak very little when drinking out of it now (but it’s been 7 yrs, folks), and I usually just put it on a napkin, or pour it into a jar, no big deal. It’s not crazy powerful like a big blender, but it does the job for my breakfast smoothies. I saw someone mention that it can’t chop things well? Make sure you add enough water at the base so things can move around and not get paste-y. I also try to help it out a bit by chopping things up into smaller pieces first.Anyway, as of Dec 2022, it’s still going strong! I’m impressed and thankful for this little blender.

I love this blender! It’s small, compact, super easy to clean and surprisingly quiet! I can actually hold a conversation with someone while blending while you literally couldn’t hear a thing with our old Oster blender. It mixes pretty well, but the only things I don’t like is that it doesn’t crush ice well, there’s still some pebble size chunks after blending and the lid is really hard to pop on and off.

This small blender has all the power of a larger one and cleanup is a snap. It blends my individual drinks so much better than a shaker bottle, an immersion blender, or a big full-size blender . And the old reliable name, Hamilton Beach, is as good as it’s reputation. Plus a plug in is so much better than battery operated … unless there is no electricity available. This is a 100% cannot miss blender.
