When shopping for a portable induction cooktop, there is no shortage of options. I chose the Hamilton Beach 34104 mainly for the benefit of a having a US-based company to call in case I had quality issues. We purchased this induction cooktop for our first vacation during the pandemic, staying in a remote lodge and not wanting to be limited with our options for meals. We set up it up in our room to reheat pre-made meals or to make breakfast burritos and hot sandwiches. Upon initial use, the control was not quite intuitive (especially since we left the manual at home). There are power settings ranging from 1-10 and temperature settings starting at 175deg F. Like any induction cooktop, it takes a while to figure out the settings that suit the cooking scenario. It’s also important to note that the cookware needs to be ferrous, which you can check with the magnet. Once we got the hang of the cooking settings we were pleased with the convenience of having cooking abilities on-the-go. Also, the cooktop is easy to clean, with a totally flat glass surface.

I have used an induction cooktop for many years and had to replace it. I was a little confused by the 1-10 power settings, and was using only temperature to cook with. If you can learn the temps for low, medium low, medium, medium high, high and sear, the power levels are a cinch. Now I cook with the power levels. It turns off and on easily, and the modes are easy to set. I like the timer as it turns the cooktop off when the time is up. The boost button will turn it up to power level 10 for 30 seconds, then back to original level. The main thing I’m not really happy about is the lowest temperature is not low enough. It starts at 175, but if you want to melt chocolate or maintain a warm sauce, it should be anywhere from 110-140. At the same time though, the temp set for the cooktop is actually the temp of the cooktop, not what’s in the pot. I haven’t had to melt for candy yet, so I can’t say for sure it is not low enough.Overall I really enjoy using this. It is easy to operate, cooks the food evenly, and easy to clean. It’s a very good value for the money. I would recommend this to beginners as well as seasoned users.

This portable cooktop is excellent. Cooking time is fast and if there were spills, the cleanup is a breeze. I purchased it as a portable appliance for traveling or in a camper. Since it needs specific cookware I added a nesting set of Magma pots. I am only giving it 4 stars because the combined weight of the cooktop and the special cookware is quite heavy and not as portable as I would prefer.

We purchased one of these to use while waiting on a broken cooktop replacement. It is compact, easy to store. It also does a fantastic job of quickly bringing a pot up to temperature. There are only 2 things to be aware of: 1) it can be a bit noisy. 2) ONLY the small center circle area generates heat. Any pot/pan larger than the small circle will heat only in the very center – not a problem for boiling water, but searing/sautรฉing is affected.

I ordered this burner so that we wouldn’t need a higher-priced hotel suite with a kitchen for a week of vacation. Our room had a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, small fridge, and a sink. This burner, plus a pan and small pot from home, allowed me to make full dinners–steak, pork chops, and chicken with rice and potato dishes. We also cooked sausage and eggs for breakfast. We likely saved $400 in meals out for four days. Add $100 per night savings for the smaller king room, and the total savings was about $1,100 for the week.

Sturdy, easy to clean the only thing I donโt like about it is that Iโve had to invest in new stainless steel pots to be able to use it because it will not work with any of the non-stainless steel pots I had and I donโt like stainless steel pots because every sticks. It boils water very quickly even on Power #5.

Bought one for work and itโs great. Not bulky easy to use and cleans up really nice. We boil wax off stuff so it gets dirty quickly but it cleans up really good. Control panel can be pretty sensitive a splash of water turned it off, So highly recommend unplugging when not in use.
