The media could not be loaded. Β Instant Pot makes a lot of different appliances nowadays. I have a few Instant Pot pressure cookers and they work splendidly so I figured the stand mixer is worth a try. From the beginning, the packaging looks nice and professionally neat just like Instant Pots. It was securely packaged, suspended in molded cardboard so that there was practically no chance of damage despite its heftier weight. It comes with a basic stainless-steel bowl, 3 mixing attachments, and a bowl lid that fits the mixing attachments. Out of the box, it took just a minute to get it working, after washing the parts and wiping it down. It is very intuitive to use, as it just has a knob to tilt up the top motor and a touch screen to adjust the speed and timer. To start, I used the hook to mix some dough from scratch. I poured in the dry and wet ingredients then started the motor up at Speed 1. After about 2 minutes, it got it decently well mixed, but the dough stayed stuck in the middle of the hook due to the slow speed. I then followed the guide manual on speed choices and turned it up to 3 and 4. It moved much faster, throwing the dough off and thoroughly twisting and kneading it. While it was a bit shaky, the suction feets held the machine firmly in place. After about 15 minutes, the dough was well kneaded and I let it rest in the bowl. Overall, it worked pretty good, but you can’t go too fast for dough as the machine can’t take it. It is powerful and never stalled or even heated up, but it does torque quite a bit and that might lead to fractures in the neck in the future. Some things that are concerns include the bowl and the sturdiness of the neck. Compared to the Kitchenaid, the neck of the Instant Stand mixer is much thinner, contributing to its marketing advantage of being lighter. It is still stiff, but when mixing dough on speed of 3 or higher, the motor head was obviously twisting, and the bottom of the stem was torquing quite a bit. That is concerning as it could lead to fractures in the metal eventually. Another concern but not too big of a deal, is that the bowl is on the thinner side compared to other mixing bowls and the Instant Pot. It is a weakly magnetic steel bowl that holds its shape and has a reinforced rim. While it is very light, it also flexes a bit just by squeezing it between your hands, although not enough to deform it. It should work fine for kitchen work and all, but I just didn’t expect it to be flexible.Overall, it’s a decent and powerful stand mixer capable of mixing dough, whipping cream, and whatever stand mixers can do to save you from manual labor. It does have some quirks to it that are a bit concerning but they should be fine for the foreseeable future.

The good news is that I absolutely love the controls, which are intuitive in every way β for instance, if you lift the head while it’s mixing, the timer shuts off, and when you put it back down and tap the start icon, not only the mixer, but the timer also pick right back up where they were. You can see for yourself how beautiful the lines are, and how very modern it looks. I didnβt see or feel any torquing, but I admit that ours is a small household, so I didnβt use this on very large quantities (3 dozen cookies was the largest quantity I made).I love Instant products in general, finding them imaginative and well thought out and executed. This would appear at first sight to fit in that description. Unfortunately, the follow through doesnβt seem to be quite there yet. For starters, the very large bowl is not only not as sturdy as the inner pots in an InstantPot, but considerably thinner, thin enough that it would probably dent easily, and Iβve treated it with care. The beater and whisk seem small for the the bowl size, though that may partially be because I’m used to a KitchenAir mixer The beater looks unfinished, and the whisk (similar to the bowl) has finer gauge metal than I would expect. Due to their sizes in relation to the bowl, mixing is not great with small quantities, and using either requires considerably more intervention with a spatula to clean the sides of the bowl than my old, workhorse KitchenAid bowl-lift, and is probably more in line with what was needed with my motherβs old MixMaster from the 40s. The dough hook rocks, though, and did a wonderful job kneading a loaf bread made with 100% whole wheat flour, so not a light loaf to work.I really wish I could totally love this. Unfortunately, other than the controls and the way it looks, I donβt. If it werenβt for those factors, Iβm not certain I would give it as many as four stars. I really hope that, as with the InstantPot, they continue to make improvements, as it has the potential to be a great mixer.Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
