Overall this is a great alternative to outdoor frying a turkey for thanksgiving! My family usually does an outdoor fried turkey every Thanksgiving, and I wanted to keep the tradition alive. My major pain point with this fryer is the clean up. The nozzle sits one or two inches above the bottom of the fryer so I had to have someone help me tilt it while I emptied the oil. The temperature control could be better. It does get hotter than what you set it as so be prepared to have a food thermometer on hand. I look forward to using this in the future as well for steaming and boiling.

I took a chance on this fryer and I had been using the outdoor fryer for years but I must say it was easy to use, and so easy to clean. I had a 12.68lb turkey and put oil to the max line but the oil did not cover the breast so I had to cook the turkey then flip it upside down so the breast can cook. That was challenging but it worked. I suggest a 10 to 11lb turkey and maybe slightly more oil. Everyone loved it!

I bought this to deep fry a Thanksgiving turkey for the first time. I tested out the machine a week before because other reviews reported trouble with it coming to temp. No issues here. Tried fried chicken the week before and it came out great. The basket is very handy. I was worried a whole turkey wouldnβt fit in the basket but the 18 pounder fit great. The directions say it can hold a 20 lb turkey. I fried it at 3 min per pound and that was a tad bit overbooked. Next time Iβll decrease cooking time. Canβt wait to use this more.

Did my first fried turkey this year for Thanksgiving turkey came out delicious. . . But here are my criticisms the cord is way too short for you not to use an extension cord I used one worked out just fine and also I had a 16.5 lb turkey at the “Max” line for the oil it still didn’t totally cover my turkey used 3 gallons of oil needed another half gallon I think had to actually flip my turkey over to get the other side fried but I did love the finished product and I do think this product is pretty good

I sold my old propane turkey fryer . Bought an electric fryer,β Masterbuiltβ. And I did not regret it. Very easy to use and clean. Comes with a drip line to drain the oil and tub comes out which makes it easy for clean up. I deep fried a 18.5lb turkey which came out perfect. Canβt wait to try cooking other foods with it. I highly recommend this for self, friends and or family!

Bought this after frying turkey the conventional way outdoors in a pot on a burner. Wanted an easier way to fry a turkey and with this masterbuilt turkey fryer it is. Super easy to use. Large enough for our 18 pound turkey and really easy to clean. Takes a little while to come up to temperature but it cooked our turkey in about an hour. Could also be used to boil stuff so will try that too. Highly recommended.

I love this thing apart from two things. First, the power cord. It’s incredibly short, but the instructions say to NOT use an extension cord…..You pretty much have no choice. Unless you want this thing on the counter creating steam, removing your wallpaper, you need to use an extension cord. I used a 12 gauge cord, 25 feet long, and had no issues. I wouldn’t use a 14 gauge cord, as that may be too thin, and many of those are quite long.Second negative thing: The metal tub the oil sits in has a moderately sharp edge on the top. At some point, you have to take the tub out to clean it. It would be nice if it had a couple of handles on there, or some fairly prominent indentations, so the tub could be removed more easily. This edge is knurled, but not knurled enough. We’re not talking razor sharp or anything, but I think that could be designed a little better.Other than that, the thing worked great. One caveat: Subtract the weight of the neck, giblets, and extra fat off your turkey for the final weigh of the turkey. Also, use the minimum time cooking during the cooking window. You have to pull the turkey up out of the oil and let it sit for awhile after you’ve cooked it to let extra oil drain off, and to cool it down a little. While you are doing this, the heat from the 375ΒΊ oil is still radiating up and continuing to cook the turkey. We made two overdone birds before we figured that out. Cook the bird with less time than the recommendation; test it with a good meat thermometer. You can always put it back in the oil for a few minutes if you need to, but I’m not thinking you’re going to need to.

It works fine, I knocked out the dents, the outer shell is just aluminum sheeting so its not going to take abuse well. The inner cooking vessel is very heavy and the outer shell just keeps you away from the hot vessel, so it doews not affect the operation at all. It is easy to see how it can be dented up in transit.
