Broken piece when we got item; and one of the taiyaki plate won’t fit- too big

This unit exceeded my expectations. I was a bit concerned at first. The molds were a smaller than expected. I wasn’t sure we would be able to get a decent filling in the taiyakis. Our first try was a bit messy and was a learning experience. 3 to 4 minutes worked well. Looking forward to the next time using it.

This little machine works well, however, no recipe book came with it and all of the recipes I could find were for four pieces not six. I found the six sizes too small and wish I had purchased one with four openings instead of six. I can’t scan things, so I guess I am out of luck.

The unit takes a while to heat up but I prepared the batter during that time. For my first time, I tried out the mini-donut and fish plates. The plates were easy to change. The donuts are very small and might be a good size for toddlers. The fish were just right for us adults. Everything tasted great. I followed directions and it works well. The recipe book looks interesting. It’s an eBook, PDF format, and is available online, about 35 pages. It was a little tricky to find but I was able to use the option to save it to my Kindle, so now I’ll have it on hand. So far, very good!

The taiyaki fish plate makes breakfast so much fun, we stuff our fish with Nutella and for lunch bites, we stuff them with spicy cheeses. It is a bit messy to use but you get the rhythm down when you’ve experimented a few times. I recommend piping with a zip lock or using a professional batter dispenser to mitigate messes. Can customize the fish color with food gels!

Toddlers sprinkled confectioner sugar on top of the recommended chocolate chip/banana donut recipe (substituted cream cheese for Greek yogurt), just the right size for a snack with milk…The toddlers and adults love this delicious snack that I stored in a sealed container within my refrigerator…2. I intend to have the toddlers create edible turkeys from mini apple cider donut dough recipe with Froot Loops strung on plastic colored tooth pics, edible eyes attached with edible adhesive…

You can see from one of the pictures that the bottom plate heats up much faster than the top. So you need to watch out for the baking duration and be sure not to remove it at appropriate time. The taiyaki maker is acceptable, certainly, it won’t be the industrial grade, for this price. It is sufficient for home use. If you’re thinking about the taiyaki recipe, just use regular pancake recipe + red bean paste (get it from an Asian grocery store)– it won’t stick on this taiyaki maker, if you oil it before baking.
