Not as simple as a good quality drip coffee maker. But for 1 or two mugs, this works really well and the double layer decanter is a plus. IMO, the seal on the plunger works OK with coarsely ground coffee, but for a bit finer grind, I imagine an Espro P3 at about $40 might be preferred.Read the instructions. Preheat the decanter for a couple minutes. Use the right temperature water for brewing and set a timer for 4 minutes..I was surprised that at my altitude (about 2000 ft.) 208οΉΎ boiling water cools in an open pan to the high end of the optimal brewing temperature range (195 to 205 degrees) in only 30 seconds. That’s about 1 degree every 10 seconds.Would it really matter if I dumped a small quantity of 208 degree water (3 degrees above the high end of optimal) on cold coffee grounds for a 30 second bloom? I doubt it, and after stirring for the bloom, the rest of the water to be added has cooled to optimal.

Makes great quality coffee with the double screen plunger, ground free if youβre careful not to overfill it. Coffee stays hot quite a while especially when you havenβt drained it too fast. I usually get a few 6oz cups down over 45 minutes and itβs still fairly warm. You have to clean the grounds from around the edges of the screens on the plunger well, not too difficult. With the way it holds heat I have been able to experiment with longer steeping time without loosing the heat like a quickly cooling off glass carafe press. I like 8 minutes for a more robust flavor using less coffee which is getting expensive, most of us French Press people use a good bean and not Folgerβs. The free βgiftβ hidden in the bottom of the box isnβt useful but youβre buying for the press which is outstanding!

My husband is retired, so he doesn’t mind the extra work to clean it over a regular drip type coffee pot. We use the regular drip type pot every day and this FP one when we want coffee with exceptional flavor. It makes a huge difference in taste though it’s a little extra work to make/clean we love the taste and it’s a very well made piece of hardware. For FP it’s as easy as any to clean, more work than a regular drip machine, but if you don’t mind a little extra work the flavor is fantastic, somehow it pulls more oil out of the beans, you can see the sheen on top. We do have a Cuisinart Burr-Mill type coffee grinder and grind the beans fresh.

I have had this for more than two years, taken it all across the country, use it almost daily, and it is perfect. The screens are still in wonderful condition, no scratches/scrapes inside, keeps my coffee, tea, or water HOT for hours. The handle design allows me to strap it into the seatbelt when necessary, but I built a carrying (station) for my front passenger seat. On long road trips, the spout design makes it easy to pour a cup while drivingβ¦.. I do drive safe. (Many car lengths in front and behind). I recommend this as necessary travel gear!

Due to our Breville having issues, we purchased the Mueller French Press for a temporary fix, but it has become a mainstay. It does an excellent job of maintaining a good seal during the press process. It is double walled so keeps the coffee blazing hot but the outside is just warm. We previously had a glass french press for camping and, as feared, the glass shattered with temperature extremes. This press is easy to disassemble (one turning motion unscrews all the filters and coiled bottom) and very easy to clean. It doesn’t stain and looks brand new. Highly recommend!

I got sick of my glass French presses breaking every couple years or even more often. This one has not broken yet π It’s a useful item. It does insulate the coffee some. I like the double mesh thing – it filters grounds better than regular ones. I put it in the dishwasher every now and then, it’s that easy to maintain.

I loved this French press. After breaking a dozen or more glass ones over the years, I decided it was time to spend a little more and get a much better press. The insulation keeps my tea or coffee hot for over an hour, so I can grab a cup right before heading to work in the morning. I make Yerba Mate, coffee and green tea in this and the 4 level filtration system grabs every bit of leaf and ground. Super easy to clean and set up in the morning, just add hot water.

I use this daily and it still looks great and performs well. I didn’t want any type of plastic in contact with hot water and this is perfect for that with the added benefit of never breaking the glass.
