These days, D-rings and shackles are a bit commoditized and really haven’t gone through too many innovations over the past several years. Sure, we’ve moved to high tech coating on them, hardened steel, and now into a new-ish realm of anti-theft devices. What I like about these is the anti-theft measures I’ve seen before require a cut key specific to the device which you have to keep up with. Oh, and you’d have to keep your locks clean so they the key may be inserted to unlock. All too often, I would hear about the locks seizing due to rust or corrosion.Let me back up a minute – these D-rings are quite well made, heavy, and robust with a reported 80,000 pound strength which would be needed for a heavier truck mired deep in swampy sticky mud. No, it’s not designed to pull out an 80,000 pound vehicle but the ratings are more geared to a momentary snatch weight which might spike up fairly high. The coating seems well applied and I like the rich color of red they use. It’s a little lipstick candy red as opposed to a blood red which is kinda tough looking. There are 2 devices in the box well packaged and presented with high density foam protecting them ahead of their tough life hooked to your frame, winch, or tow bumper. Also included is a ‘key’ for the screw locks attached to a metallic pin which may be used to tighten/loosen the lock.To use, screw the main bolt into the threaded end of the shackle and tighten finger tight then turn back about 1/4 turn (this step is crucial if you want to remove later – otherwise a TIGHT fitting will be VERY difficult to unscrew). Once the bolt is screwed in, you LEFT HAND SCREW in the end cap which screws into the center of the end of the bolt. The end piece screws into a recessed area at the outside of the shackle making it end up flush against the shackle. Here’s the beautiful part – use the key which has a square head which fits into a recessed matching area and LEFT HAND SCREW tighten the end cap.If done properly, the bolt can’t be loosened from the shackle even if it’s about 1 full turn loose to begin with. It can’t be pulled through due to the end cap. As the screw is left handed, it’s counterintuitive so a would be their would have to know this to even start to figure this out.Certainly a nice piece of kit and has won a spot in my vehicle recovery bag!

These are very durable product. It is very sturdy, best value on the market for the price. It is very easy to install and easy to use. The anti- theft lock function is great. Heavy duty and well made. I am very happy with this product.

Super easy to install and the locking portion is really unique. Nobody’s getting these bad boys off. Super fast shipping was a major plus.

So the threaded anti theft caps that screw on have a tiny threaded stud and the material is sooooo poor that it will snap right off especially since it’s right under the square cutout for the tool that tightens it. There is paper thin material on the caps stud to stud head. Also the caps stick way out even when fully tightened and are crooked due to poor craftsmanship. They are nowhere near flush so you can just grab them with pliers and unscrew them or better yet use a 3/8 ratchet with no socket on it as it fits right in the square on the security cap screw. And if you wanted to put a socket on that ratchet you can just put it on the other side of the shackle pin and unscrew it as it would instantly snap that little thin junk anti theft cap right off. I bet even a screwdriver or the metal bar that comes with the kit when inserted into the shackle pin would snap that junk anti theft cap screw right off. Sooooo what about the rest of the D Ring Shackle , well it pure junk as well…. the powder coat is thin garbage , the shackle pins are crooked and way loose in the threads , the gap in the shackle that the main threaded pin runs through is uneven and crooked , the casting and machining of the shackles is poor with very uneven dimensions and tolerances. I hate to say it but there is nothing good to say about this product. I would not pay $10 for the set after receiving them and seeing how pathetically manufactured they are. So the $46 plus tax for these has for sure put a nasty taste in my mouth. Do yourself a favor and buy a much better built product cause the last thing you want is one of these breaking under load and causing damage or injury. I do NOT trust them at all.

Better than expected recovery hooks. They look awesome and are a piece of cake to install. The security key sold me on them.
