I returned it because even thought itβs super cute on a countertop, itβs kind of poor at making milkshakes. You will only be able to make shakes where you add syrup only to ice cream and milk or just ice cream and milk if you skip the syrup. You wonβt be able to crush any cookies, m&mβs chocolates, graham crackers and things like that. It canβt seem to crush these items even when I did pre-crushing to make cookies a lot smaller (which you should be doing anyway for any ice cream machine). It sent all the cookie bits to the bottom of the cup and didnβt crush them and make them smaller at all. So you end up with a milkshake with cookie pieces at the bottom of the cup that have not been blended into the milkshake at all and have not been reduced in size and finely milled into the milkshake at all. I used to work in a restaurant where we made milkshakes all day long, it was what we were famous for. So I know my milkshakes. The machine we had looked similar but was clearly far more expensive and could chop anything while it spun. This milkshakes spinner canβt chop anything and you can see and notice easily as to how poor its quality is. I would spend more money on a better machine if you love making milkshakes. If you donβt care about having cookies like Oreos for example mixed into your milkshake and are fine with making milkshakes using ice cream and some chocolate syrup or caramel etc., then this will do fine for you, plus if arenβt going to make milkshakes often as well, then this one makes sense for you too.

So, I got this to avoid buying a blender but wanting to be able to make milkshakes at home. That was a mistake. To give it it’s due, it is not dead yet, though I guess that’s because I’ve only used it three times. I stopped using it when the disturbing smell of electrical could very easily be smelt the moment it was turned on. The rotating disk on the stick that is supposed to blend ice cream and milk is under powered, such to the point I’ve had to supplement it with manual stirring every time. Cleaning it is not the easiest, either.I do love the aluminum cup that comes with it. That’s in my general rotation of tumblers, along with the blender I ended up buying to do the job I just can’t trust this unit to do… which ultimately I should have just done originally.Your mileage may vary, and maybe I’m being slightly harsh on it, but between cleaning hassles, smells of what seems to indicate an impending meltdown and power issues that don’t do the core job, I’m not a fan, nor would I ever give one as a gift.

When I opened this, I thought it seemed too light and small to be effective but I was wrong. As long as you soften the ice cream a bit before you make your shakes, this works really well. You can also wiggle the cup while it’s mixing, if you think the ice cream isn’t completely mixed in. My bug zapper is my favorite purchase in a long time, but this is a really close second. I have also gained a new found popularity amongst the pack of hungry locusts I sometimes will admit I gave birth to, so there’s that, as well. Buy this if you like milkshakes but loathe leaving your house. Also buy the square tub of vanilla ice cream sold by Amazon’s arch nemesis, the yellow happy face place- you’re going to go broke buying the normal size ice cream AND it’s actually really creamy and flavorful. If you have locusts like me, you’re gonna need the tub. I’d also advise that you keep this a secret from the outside world around you (relatives, neighbors, etc) because if you don’t (like I didn’t), people you can barely tolerate will start being friendly. (Hope the reference of said arch nemesis doesn’t prevent this from posting).

This makes great shakes but you need to let the ice cream warm up a bit to get it to blend well. Also, if you are someone in your family has sensory issues donβt buy this. Itβs very loud!
