As someone that works as a sommelier and winemaker, I can safely say if you’re debating this versus others, you can’t go wrong with the Nutrichef. Just buy it… as long as you’re aware of its limitations (red wines only and better if you keep it tucked away). If you’re on the fence or think this fridge is good for everything, read below:I bought this 12 bottle fridge as a supplement to my larger 48 bottle fridge I have (I live in a small-ish flat in a big city and needed to keep certain red wines at a different temperature than the bigger fridge).For the price, it’s fantastic, despite a couple quirks (that may not affect you depending on where it’s kept).KEY POINTS:1.) Efficiently keeps within a 3-4 degree range of the temperature you set it at (I set it 5 degrees lower than what I want the actual temperature to be at, just to counteract this). Since this is on the lower end of wine fridges and I have the one without the compressor, that is to be expected, especially if where you keep it is a warmer location—my flat is regularly around 72 degrees F. If you’re using this to age reds long term (1+ years), definitely err on the cooler side… Reds should generally be kept around 54-55 degrees. Knowing that the unit isn’t always precise, I set my fridge at 52 in the cooler seasons and 50 in summer since mine doesn’t have a compressor and uses just a fan to cool.2.) Fairly quiet relative to the context, especially amongst the other noises of a kitchen. However, I keep mine on the bar side of my small apartment kitchen, facing the living room, due to lack of space. If you aren’t sitting right next to it you probably won’t hear it.If if they do an improved version, I suggest to the engineers to add some noise dampening foam or some protector over the fan to shield dust and noise. If I was so inclined, the back seems to be pretty accessible if you wanted to tack on something to dampen the noise but not inhibit the fan’s ventilation… I’ve had louder wine fridges, but also had quieter.3.) I’ve seen reviews of people complaining about not being able to fit Bordeaux/pinot bottles in the vertical slots, and that is correct; they will fit in the horizontal ones, though. For those with this complaint, know that most higher end wine fridges don’t have vertical slots, because you’re not really supposed to store wine long term this way. Most wine fridges that have the vertical slots do so mostly for whites, but this fridge doesn’t really get cold enough for whites anyway (unless you like them not as chilled), so it’s not a huge concern for my usage, personally.4.) My biggest and only real gripe is that the blue temperature light on the front can’t be turned off, and really lights up a dark room (I keep this opposite my kitchen facing my living room so it definitely lights up the living room more than you’d expect). If you don’t have light coloured walls or you keep this out of sight it won’t be an issue, but the fact that you can’t turn off the temperature light is frustrating for me.All in all, though, well worth it.

The media could not be loaded. After spending two days trying to get someone from the company via phone, and amazons text chat was a joke (they told me to screw in the LED to get it to work, but the LED is on a circuit board…), I finally did speak with the company and they simply said they will “email me” to teach me how to turn the light on. She was nice, but not BLT took my info then let me go with email details promised to me today.Despite following the directions in the manual they sent, and looking online, I can not get the light to turn on.The light is important to me and part of the reason I got this model. That’s why the three stars. I will wait for my email, but otherwise I plan on sending this back if they don’t properly address my concern.*edited*They replaced it. It’s been a month now and I love it!

I purchased this Wine Cooler and it worked well for a while. Then it stopped getting cold and actually increased the temperature. We finally contacted the Nutrichef company and after a few emails explaining and showing the problem they sent us a replacement! Now we have cold wine again! We are ?.

I ordered model PKCWC15 which apparently had a defective panel (according to NutriChef customer service). I was instructed to return the defective cooler through Amazon and order a replacement. The replacement process was efficient. Repackaging the old unit and taking the 50 lb box to UPS was a bit of a challenge but doable. A new cooler is now installed with no problems and am hoping it stays that way. The second unit is much quieter than the first unit. No problems with the panel showing the cooler temperature.

Although the product was received and set up less then a week ago, so far, we are very pleased. It runs extremely quietly, with only a slight click if the compressor comes on. All shapes of 750ml seem to fit without issue, including taller Riesling. The set temperature appears to be holding steady, the cabinet is sleek and sturdy. Getting the screws to fit into the door & handle, was a challenge, but we managed. Not sure if the auto-lock actually is working, because we really don’t want it, so at the moment, do not consider it a problem. Bottom line, we are very pleased with this wine cooler, I did a lot of research before selecting it, and it appears to be exactly what we wanted.
