The Honest Conn Man –
I’ve read all the reviews and learned several tips that I’ll summarize here.1) Don’t put anything except popcorn into this popper. No oil. No soap. No salt. Why? Some complained that oil darkened the bowl. Some complained that, after repeated washing with soap, the silicon took on the taste of the soap.2) Don’t fill it beyond the smallest circle. I told this to my wife and she proceeded to fill it beyond the circle anyway because “there wouldn’t be enough with so few kernels. I poured the extra back and promised to make more if we came up short. With Reddenbacker popcorn, the bowl — counterintuitively — became full to the top! More popcorn would have either resulted in burning (if one waited for the popping to stop) or MANY unpopped kernels. The bowl is deceptive. You’re putting in more kernels than it seems.3) Eat from another bowl; just empty the popper into another bowl. If you put nothing into the popper except popcorn kernels (see #1 above), the need for soap is gone. A simple rinsing and you’re all set. (I DID use a little soap when I first received the bowl to clean off any manufacturing stuff that might be lingering. That one use did NOT transfer any soap taste whatsoever, but I’m not going to argue with those who did find that repeated use of soap pretty much ruined the bowl.)========================================================What makes the bowl great? It works well with my GE microwave’s popcorn setting — so great that I don’t have to watch the bowl at all. The kernels are big and fluffy but perhaps a bit dry. After I transfer the popcorn to a regular bowl, I can then add melted butter or use a spray-on olive oil. After it cools a bit, the bowl is rinsed out and either air-dried or towel-dried. Then, I put the lid inside the bowl (which is where it goes even when you are popping corn) and collapse the bowl for a 2-inch high bowl that fits virtually anywhere. The lid is smaller than the bowl and goes inside it! WHAT!!!!! Yup. When popping, simply put the lid inside the bowl keeping it flat rather than askew. As the popcorn pops, it will eventually push the lid to the top of the bowl. Kind of neat.I have the white version of this bowl and have popped around 20 bowls since I purchased the bowl. At this point, the bowl continues to look brand new and performs flawlessly. I expect to get a lot more use out of it.We enjoy the flat storage, the uniform and fluffy results, and the novelty of popping in a collapsible bowl. It does all you want a popcorn popper to do except to double as the serving bowl. You CAN use the bowl to eat the popcorn, but (per some of the reviews) that may shorten the useful life of the bowl since you’ll likely be using butter or oil plus salt in it and will be forced to use soap to clean it as a result. I don’t mind cleaning one extra bowl even though I am probably lazier than you.Follow the rules and the bowl is really no problem — but, I’ve found, writing about it is! It’s a little different and differences seem to throw some people. So it goes.====================== Added 3/13/2019 ===========================================My GE microwave works perfectly on the popcorn setting — perhaps, in part, because it DOES have a rotating turntable. In reading the reviews of those who hated the unit because of burning, I can think of a few reasons for the burning:a) One reviewer stated that the unit would burn the popcorn before all the kernels were popped. Sure it would. If you’re letting the unit run until ALL the kernels are popped, you’re waiting too long. Let the timer and your nose be primary. And don’t overload the unit. Fill in the bottom circle only. Then, most of the popcorn will be popped and there is far less chance of burning.b) If you microwave lacks a turntable (i.e., one that turns), there is increased chance of burning.c) Use a good popcorn. Walmart sells Reddenbacker (sp?) for less than your supermarket sells Brand X. The cheap Party Time type popcorn is less likely to pop well and will tempt you to let the microwave run too long.

I like to snack in the evening, but I worry about the calories. Microwave popcorn is a good, low-calorie snack, and there are so many popcorn seasonings that I won’t get bored. My first batch was excellent – I used the Popcorn setting on my microwave, and then stopped it when the pops slowed down. This popper is flexible but sturdy, collapses for serving or storing, and makes excellent popcorn. And the Aqua delightfully matches my Turquoise Fiestaware, so it looks fine on my countertop. It took me 3 days to empty the container while the popcorn stayed fresh under the lid on my countertop, and then it washed easily in a couple minutes. I highly recommend this Microwave Popcorn Popper!

This is a very nice microwave popcorn popper. The only problem, which isn’t a big deal but the popcorn salt won’t stick to the popcorn. I think it may because you don’t use oil at all. I use very little oil to pop it on the stovetop but it seems the salt sticks better with the oil. I would still recommend this popper…and don’t use oil, I think it would damage the silicone popper base

Works well. When you fill with kernels to the first line, the bowl is about half full when finished piping…plenty for one person. The handles do not get hot when taking it out of the microwave. The popcorn setting on my microwave is too long for it to stay in the entire time without burning.

Popcorn is the best esp for those late night snacks. We went looking for an easy, microwaveable one and ran across this using review rating. It’s probably my most used appliance in the kitchen. I’ve also gifted it to others who are looking for a microwaveable option – no oil, low calories and super easy to use. Would buy it time and time again. Great product!

Live this popcorn bowl! I eat popcorn every night. It’s my guilty pleasure. This makes it so easy! No machine to clean afterwards, just the bowl it’s self! I will say going from a stir crazy type poper where you add oil in prior to poping, this seems to have slightly “drier” pop corn if you will.. but that doesn’t bother me!! I got 2 and use it every night!

What is a great snack you can have anytime? If you have a jar of corn kernels you can have fresh popcorn anytime! This bowl is popper and server in one. Great for the kids.

All I wanted was personal size popcorn. I was surprised at how this really works! Just a small amount of kernels in the bottom….put the top on….place in microwave….press popcorn button….done!
