The pork roast came out so good I was having to chase everyone out the kitchen! I am very pleased with how easy this is to setup and use. The sauté mode works pretty well, it is a bit of a pain to get hold of the roast with tongs, but it saves me having to dirty another pot and gets plenty hot to brown the meat.Be mindful of the size of this pressure cooker, 3 quarts is a bit on the small side. I would have preferred a 5 quart model just to give a little extra space. But the 3 quart takes up so much less cupboard space, and while its a bit on the tight side for something like a roast, it works perfectly. The inner pot is just super easy to take out/put in. It is non-stick and cleans in the dish washer. There is a small learning curve to using it, the included manual with the parts list is really all I needed to figure out how to use the machine. Mine was completely preassembled (the manual notes one part that must be put on but it was already installed). Also, for steaming veggies, my first attempt resulted in mush. 10 minutes is way to long, maybe 2 minutes? I am not sure.I have not tried it as a slow cooker yet, I plan to make one pot chili (the bean version not the all meat version) in it next, but given how well it sauté’s I expect it to perform perfectly and actually can’t wait to try it. (my mouth is watering)But this is already worth it just to make those succulent roasts in only 45 minutes, the next one I will let go another 5 or 10 minute’s to get the falling apart version of the roast. And I turned the drippings into gravy directly in the pot. (I didn’t get a picture because the kitchen was being over run). This is a new favorite kitchen gadget (like my air fryer) that I though was all hype but turns out to be really useful.

Great for making stew and beans on the pressure setting.

There are a lot of great things about this little cooker. First off, it is very compact. It will not take up a lot of space in your cabinet or on your counter. You will want to leave it on the counter however, because you will want to use it all the time. We are only cooking for two of us and it is perfect. I would say you could cook for 3-4 depending on what you’re making and whether or not you’re feeding teenage boys, which are bottomless food pits. ?We put this little cooker through it’s paces and this is what we found:Pros:Easy to use. Does not require an engineering degree to figure out. Even my technophobe Mom likes using it and she hates anything “techie”Easy to clean. The pot is non-stick and although other reviewers have stated they throw it in the dishwasher, I never found it necessary to work that hard to get it clean.Cooks beautifully. This little pot sautés and browns amazingly well and easily. We even found it easier and quicker for browning ground meat than the stove. The slow cook function is fantastic for making stews, soups and even casseroles. We even made a delicious meatloaf in it in slow cooker mode. Very yummy and no real mess.Cons:*High/Low setting for sauté function. This would be great if you want to sauté or brown something a little more delicate than carrots or roast.*Needs glass lid. We were fortunate enough to have a glass saucepan lid that fit, but unlike it’s other-brand counterparts, no glass lid is available. If there were, I’d be first in line to buy one.*Needs silicone lid. In the little book they tell you to put stuff together the night before, cover and refrigerate. This would be a lot easier to just slip a silicone lid on. Again, if one were available I’d be first in line to get it.*Recipe book. The other brands come with a recipe book to make basic things like chili, rice and pot roast. This would be especially helpful for those inexperienced with this type of appliance or cooking in general. Cooking time for hard boiled eggs would be helpful rather than trial and error or past experience with pressure cooker.

I normally use a bigger pressure cooker from another brand name, but this Proctor-Silex Simplicity 4-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker, 3 Quart Multi-Function With Slow Cook, Steam, Sauté, Rice, Stainless Steel, it’s pretty small and instructions are pretty straightforward. I generally use the pressure cook for corn or meat, and rarely use the slow cook function or steam. I am not used to having just five functions, but I’m getting used to it and actually appreciate it. It is okay at $83, although a little bit expensive compared to my bigger and more functional ones.
