When I got it (Feb 6, 2016), it was $150 vs $145 or so for NS-TSC10.Well, it was a tough choice, but after comparing all the features and reading online manuals for both cookers I have settled on the Tiger and am still very pleased. My personal Pros for the Tiger JAX that are missing in NS-TSC10 (in no particular order):- Slow cook mode. It’s a very nice feature allowing us to do some random dishes like omelets and 1-minute oatmeals (10 minutes, actually).- Neutral silvery-steel color (NS-TSC10 has a very brown shade).- About twice as fast in the “Quick” mode as NS-TSC10.- It’s made in Japan (NS-TSC10 is made in China).- The Tiger has adjustable cooking time and NS-TSC10 does not. This is another big pro.- Porridge mode has adjustable time.Tiger’s cons:- Non-retractable power cord.- The pot does not have plastic handles (NS-TSC10 does not have them too).- No baking mode (I wonder whether slow-cooking mode will do the baking). It’s two weeks of ownership and we are happy with this purchase so far.Because of timers’ adjustability, we can and do a number of other grains like pearl barley, steel-cut oats, regular 1-minute oats, buckwheat, etc.————————–Edit on 4/14/2016:No, the slow cook mode can’t bake.I tried it today with chocolate cake batter and the cooker switches itself from cooking mode to warming mode in about five minutes. In the end, I used our electric waffle maker to dispose of the slightly warm batter. My kids have approved the result :)————————–Edit on 2/23/2018:My Tiger JAX still works great after two years at 2-3 uses per week.————————–Edit on 6/15/2020:My Tiger JAX still works great after four years at 2-3 uses per week.————————–Edit on 8/8/2021:My Tiger JAX still works great after four years at 2-3 uses per week.

Let me start by saying this is a great rice cooker. In the past I have always used and purchase cheaper rice cookers from Wal-Mart or somewhere and was hesitant to spend so much. My mom kept insisting it was worth it and I would have to agree. The rice turns out way better than my previous rice cooker which was some cheap model (Panasonic maybe). I didn’t know what I was missing until I ate the rice produced from this cooker. There are plenty of other reviews that go into the specifics about pro/cons but I will list some that influenced my decision.Pros+Made in Japan – this is subjective perception of quality.+Adjustable Cooking Time- the Zojirushi model i was comparing didn’t have a timer so this was a pro for me.Cons- Non-retractable power cord.- Lithium Battery ( i didn’t really consider this, but after reading the manual Tiger state the battery lasts approximately 5 years and they recommend an “authorized dealer” replace it for you. i expect this to last longer than 5 years and don’t know what i’ll do once the battery wears out since i don’t know where to take it for a replacement. I’ll probably try it myself first, but had i known beforehand i would have researched more options)- No condensation collector. Every rice cooker i’ve ever seen or used always had a little collector for the water that condenses at the top of the lid, this one does not! when the rice is done cooking it’s a little more moist than i’d like but as you let it sit on the keep warm setting it gets to the perfect point. there’s also a little residual water that drip when you open the lid which is annoying. this missing collector may be by design, but just a little surprising to me.SummaryAll things considered, this is a great rice cooker and i would recommend it for those who need smaller quantities of rice.

I love this rice cooker! However I am disappointed that the battery stopped working and now I have to re-select “brown rice” before I press start. It’s annoying because if I forget to do that, I don’t think the cook cycle starts. I wish there were a way to get the battery replaced. Otherwise it is PERFECT! And the rice is perfect every time.

Nothing to dislike about this cooker. Easy to use and clean. The rice is way fluffy than any cheap rice cooker.

Mostly bought this for the rice cooking and steam simultaneous option. Love this cooker. It always sits on my counter and I can leave rice in there on warm for 2 days and it’s still taste good (doesn’t happen often since eat rice quickly and make enough for daily consumption). The rice is fluffy but not soggy its perfect. Steamer works well for small portions even cooks meat (cut bite sized). Made yellow curry chicken with potatoe and carrots same time I cooked rice. I was blown away. Go ahead buy and try!

My husband & I have eaten rice all our lives. While we can buy Tiger & Zojirushi brand rice cookers, we simply can’t due to its (ridiculously) high prices.☹️ I was finally able to nab this at a low price (which lowered again after a week ?) we agreed on and we love it! It’s easy to use, the brown rice is softer but cooking time is longer.
