I absolutely love this slow-cooker/warmer. I use it two or three times a week to feed my family of five or larger groups of company up to 30+ folks. It’s an ideal way to serve meals to a crowd. Here are some of the meals I’ve used it for:- Baked potato bar: Cook the potatoes in the oven and serve the toppings (Broccoli, grilled chicken, white cheddar sauce, etc.) from this server.- Pasta bar: Boil penne pasta in a large stock pot on the stove, and let your guests choose their sauce from the server: Meat marinara, Garlic alfredo with chicken and aspargus, or Vegan vodka arrabiata- BBQ pulled pork: Toast some buns on the side and fill them pulled pork from the slow cooker. I cook a butt or shoulder cut in root beer all day in slow cooker on low, then shred it and hour before my guests arrive, dump the juices and return it to the warmer, cover it with BBQ sauce, and mix well. Put some green beans and mashed potatoes in the other two warmers and you have yourself the perfect summer meal for a crowd.- Fajitas: Saute the steak, onions and peppers ahead of time, and transfer to a slow cooker. Put beans in another one and spanish rice in the third. warm you tortillas as guests arrive and let them help themselves.- Nachos: Chili in one, ground beef with jalapenos in the next, nacho cheese sauce in the third. A giant bowl of tortilla chips on the side. Everyone’s favorite Game Day fare.- Breakfast: Thanks to this warmer, I’m now able to scramble eggs, fry my sausage and broil my potatoes before I start on the pancakes/waffles/french toast/whatever, and I no longer have to risk burning the bread because I’m a terrible multi-tasker. I just transfer the side dishes to the warmer while I focus on the main dish.One highlight I especially appreciate is the ideal size of the pots. They fit in the dishwasher and they also look lovely as regular serving dishes when I transfer them out of the warmer onto the dining room table. Of course the unit itself is ideal for a buffet meal, but I don’t always want to serve my food buffet style, so I like the flexibility of placing them on the table (on a trivet) and having them look right at home.I recommend this warmer for anyone who loves hosting a crowd.

I bought the slow cooker twice. The first time I bought it because it had all the features I wanted, but as soon as I plugged it in it started smelling like it was going to start an electrical fire so I returned it. After that I read some reviews that said the smell goes away after a while, so I purchased another one to give it a chance to see if that was the case. Luckily, each time I use it the smell is less, so I eagerly look forward to the day where it is totally gone.Other than that, here are my observations:PROS:1. Less expensive than comprable brands.2. The oval shaped decreases the space it takes up on the countertop (narrower).3. The cut out for the spoons in each of the inserts is great. It allows you to keep the spoons in when the cover is on eliminating mess around the slow cooker.4. It comes with three spoons with small rests on the back that fit neatly into the cutouts on the inserts.CONS:1. Initial burning smell first few uses, but I bought another brand to try and it did the same thing.2. The cord is very short. Needs to be much longer.3. The ceramic insert is awkward to remove when the lid holders are in place, as the back insert handle lines up right in between the sides of the holder. Probably not a big issue though because if you going to take the inserts out of the cooking base you would not be utilizing the lid holders anyway.4. Temperature settings are hard to read on the front of the unit. Small thin print which is hard to see especially at an angle.5. No off/on power light. You just turn the knob to the setting you want but it’s easy to forget that it’s still on since the only indication is the position of the knob. To make it more obvious I put some tape on each of the buttons with an arrow pointing to the current temperature setting, so if the arrows not straight up I know the unit is still on.6. Outside of the base unit gets VERY HOT! Be careful not to touch it before it cools down.All things considered I like the cooker so far, but we shall see how long it holds up.

My wife bought this 3 years ago and I just thought it only warms food so it was another appliance that took up space. This year I looked into its uses and realized not only does it warm but it also cooks. I took it out, put uncooked ingredients like stuffing in one dish, green bean casserole in another, and spinach artichoke crab dip in the third and let it do its thing. It took about an hour to come up to cooking temp, but once it did, everything came out fantastic.This thing saved valuable counter space, oven space, and made cooking very efficient. I could cook all these dishes while waiting for the turkey to roast without stress. Yes, the unit is quite heavy ad the cord is quite short, but i have the perfect spot for it and it wasn’t a problem. I will now use it for parties and gatherings going forward.

I’ve used it a few times over the last year or so. I use a thermometer to monitor food temperature and my understanding is you need to maintain 140F to keep spoilage and food borne illness in check. The device does take 15-30 minutes or so to heat up. And it’s best to warm/cook foods first then use this to keep them at temperature for guests to serve themselves. It maintains 140F or higher on low setting with the lids on. If the lids are off or being used a lot I’ll switch it to high. On high it’ll reach 200+ with the lids on after a 20-30 minutes. The ‘warm’ setting seems only useful if the lids will stay on and it barely maintains temps near that 140F target. The warm setting is also more useful for things that might dry out, like mashed potatoes.
