   I bought this, for its speed… and it was on sale…The picture shows the top of the slices of bread poking out the top of the toaster… The slot is MUCH deeper than that… You drop the toast in, and it goes way down… You push down the lever and the magic starts. a relatively short time later, the bottom opens up, and your bread drops down into the tray.This is a tall toaster, so don’t use it under the cabinets above… Pull it forward.. I don’t think it would burn anything, but you could melt a under cabinet light or such… The outside is plastic on the gray unit I have… It feels a little cheap, but that’s just me. I know other toasters have plastic cases… I had a 4 slice Cuisinart that was white plastic, and it lasted years. I will get use to this in a short time.The only downside, is since the bread is so far down inside, you can’t peek and see if its browning or burning… But there’s a cancel button if you need.So in all pleased with the purchase for the sale price I paid.

   I wasn’t excited for the way it looks (ehh lack-luster) But it works very well.Toast goes in from the top and pops out the bottom. It is a good price. I like how narrow it is, it fit conveniently in tighter placed. My husband’s parents made a comment about how nice it toasts the bread. By the way this toaster replace a brand new Smeg, that stopped popping up only 6 months after getting. So far this WB toaster is doing a great job. So, good job West Bend.

   Good toaster.. toasts bread really fast. drawback you can’t use it under a cupboard because of how how to get and how fast it toasts…It’s got to be on a counter in the open and if you’re not expecting it when the toast ejects it will scare the snot out of you.

   THIS IS THE BEST ONE WE’VE FOUND!You would think it’s pretty simple to find a good toaster .. they have 1 job – to toast bread .. but I can not tell you how many bad ones we’ve bought over the years. Finally! It checks all the boxes .. easy to adjust, toasts the entire piece of bread, gluten free/bagel setting, EASY to clean. I don’t give a lot of reviews, but .. I might buy one more just to have a back up. If this one ever breaks and they stop making them, heaven forbid, I want a back up!
